Corona Treatment for Extrusion Coating Plant
Corona treater on blown film or cast film extrusion lines is essential in order to obtain a perfect surface tension prior to the following converting process. Without pretreatment the extruded substrates will not allow further converting processes due to low surface tension.
Corona treatment is required on Extrusion coating/Lamination plant For better adhesion of thin layer of polyolefin's (Mainly LDPE / PP) on substrates like Paper, Cotton Cloth, Woven fabrics, Jute fabric, Aluminum foil, BOPP film, Polyester film, etc. Paper, Cotton Cloth, Woven fabrics, Jute fabric, Aluminum foil, BOPP film, Polyester film, etc has to be corona treated before coating to achieve better bonding.
Corona treatment system is a very effective way to increase the surface tension of virtually any material. Surface treatment is required for woven fabrics whose normal surface tension is not sufficiently high to permit good wetting , corona treatment increases bonding. Corona treaters increase the surface energy of films, foils, and paper to improve wettability and adhesion of inks, coatings and adhesives. Film extruders use corona treaters to increase a film’s surface energy at the time of extrusion. This pretreatment process enables the film to be later converted by printers, coaters & laminators.
